Barcelona are interested in signing Aston Villa defender Pau Torres.

Fichajes reports that they are looking to add more quality and depth to their defensive unit and have targeted the 28-year-old. It would be logical to think that the player would be attracted to the idea of joining one of the biggest clubs in the world. It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can agree a deal with Aston Villa.

Torres was linked with a move to Real Madrid last season. He also has connections with Saudi clubs.

Villa to sell Pau Torres?

The Spanish defender is not an essential asset for them and Aston Villa could sell him for that price. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop. Barcelona want to do well in multiple competitions and need a squad with a lot of players. Signing the Spanish defender would be ideal for them. He will bring depth and quality to the team.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, would be considering selling him for a reasonable fee to strengthen their squad. They have performed very well this season and are in third place in the league table. They will be pushing towards qualifying for the Champions League. They should aim to further improve the quality of their attack in January. Selling a defender could potentially bring in a quality striker.

Ollie Watkins has not been able to find the back of the net on a regular basis. Aston Villa will need a replacement for him. It remains to be seen whether they can make the necessary reinforcements by selling some of their underperforming players.

Torres is an excellent defender but has not lived up to expectations at the West Midlands club. It may be ideal for all parties to move on. It remains to be seen whether he can secure a move to Barcelona in the coming weeks.
