On Wednesday, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and their respective teams will play a new interpretation of exhibition golf under the lights at Trump National Golf Club. Dubbed the 2025 Golf Channel Game, the exhibition will feature two teams of four competing in a series of fun, fast-paced events designed to mimic challenges from other sports leagues.
Scheffler and McIlroy teamed up to win an exhibition match this time last year in Las Vegas against LIV Golf members Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, but this time they will be on opposite teams.
Both teams will go through a series of five challenges: a timed drive, a timed short game, a timed relay, a 14-club challenge, and finally a head-to-head matchup between Scheffler and McIlroy, who will take shots from a specific area. The team with the most points will be the overall winner.

golf channel game format
Time drive competition: The players go head-to-head with two minutes left and drive into the scoring grid.
Timed short game competition: It consists of individual actions in which a player chips the ball within a certain distance from the pin or holes out a certain number of putts at a certain distance, all timed to three minutes.
Team relay: Strategy is very important here, as each team of four takes turns playing shots over three holes. Teammates are placed in specific positions (one on the tee, one on the fairway, two on and around the green), and the team with the highest score in the shortest amount of time wins.
14 club challenge: Two players go head-to-head. Two groups of people take clubs from the same golf bag and hit shots from a predetermined distance down the fairway during a Nearest to the Pin contest. Clubs are eliminated once used. This means each player will take seven different shots using all 14 clubs. All eight players participating in the tournament will compete in four head-to-head matches.
Captain’s Challenge: McIlroy and Scheffler will go head-to-head. Each player hits shots from different distances, including bunkers, greenside, 30-foot and 10-foot putts. The person whose shots have the shortest total distance from the hole wins.
