Buffalo Sabers’ Connor Timmins Sidelined for 6-8 Weeks After Breaking Left Leg in Clash with Flyers

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Lindy Ruff, coach of the Buffalo Sabres, announced that defenseman Connor Timmins suffered a broken left foot during the third period of Thursday night’s 5-3 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers. Timmins is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

The injury occurred with 5:20 remaining in the game, seemingly without any contact, as players battled for the puck along the boards in the neutral zone. Video footage showed that Timmins’ left skate may have caught in a groove, causing his foot to twist unnaturally.

At 27 years old, Timmins brings seven NHL seasons of experience and is in his first season with Buffalo after signing a two-year contract last summer. He has recorded six assists in 32 games and will likely miss the NHL Olympic break in February due to this injury.

Additionally, the Sabres were without center Tyler Kozak in the second period, who left the game with an upper-body injury.

Fan Take: This injury is a tough blow for the Sabres, especially given Timmins’ role on the blue line and his growing presence in the team. For hockey fans, it highlights the physical demands and unpredictability of the sport, reminding us how quickly things can change and how teams must adapt to unexpected challenges.
