Dana White’s Stunning New League Plan for Boxers Leaves Eddie Hearn Reeling

Eddie Hearn remains unfazed by Dana White’s new boxing promotion, especially after discovering the low-value offers made to certain boxers.

Earlier this year, UFC president Dana White revealed plans to launch his own boxing promotion alongside boxing’s acclaimed figure, Turki Alarcik. Just a few months later, they hosted their debut event headlined by a super middleweight title clash between Canelo Alvarez and Terrence Crawford, widely regarded as one of the century’s biggest fights. The promotion subsequently secured an exclusive broadcast deal with Paramount for U.S. rights, while negotiations with Sky Sports for international broadcasting are ongoing.

Since entering boxing, Dana White appears to have formed complicated relations with rivals, particularly Eddie Hearn. Despite a previous camaraderie, the two have recently been entangled in a heated feud, often clashing publicly. Part of the tension stems from White’s push to reform the Muhammad Ali Act through his new promotion—a move that has sparked significant controversy. Hearn recently learned about an offer White’s promotion extended to a boxer and was shocked by how low the offer was. Additionally, rumors suggest Zuffa Boxing’s first event is set for January 23rd at the UFC Apex. Hearn expressed skepticism about the need to alter the Muhammad Ali Act, emphasizing the law’s role in protecting fighters and doubting political efforts to change it.

In boxing, it’s common for promoters to collaborate despite personal differences. While White and Hearn once shared a strong relationship, it seems unlikely they will partner anytime soon as White pushes to reshape boxing much as he did with the UFC.

Fan Take: This development is crucial for fight fans as it signals a potential shakeup in boxing’s promotional landscape, possibly driving more competition and innovation. However, the tension between major figures like White and Hearn may also create challenges, influencing the sport’s governance and fighter opportunities going forward.
