Gabe Perreault Sparks Instant Impact Following Call-Up to Rangers

In his return to the New York Rangers, Gabe Perreault immediately made a significant impression. The team acquired Perreault to help boost their struggling offense, and early indications suggest that it was a smart move. During the second period of the Rangers’ 2-1 overtime win against the St. Louis Blues, Perreault scored his first NHL goal when a shot from Will Quill deflected off his skate. Although the goal came in an unusual way, it was a memorable milestone for the young player.

Perreault described the moment as a blur, saying, “I kind of blacked out… I’m pretty lucky, but I’m glad I got the first one.” At just 20 years old, he played alongside Noah Laba and Taylor Radish and was part of the power play’s second unit. Known for his hockey IQ and playmaking skills, Perreault showcased some standout passing throughout the game. He also handled the game’s speed well, demonstrating poise with the puck and intelligent play off it, which is impressive for someone new to the NHL.

In total, Perreault logged 13 minutes and 9 seconds of ice time. Before his call-up, he had scored 10 goals and tallied 7 assists for 17 points in 20 AHL games. The Rangers have high hopes for him, with coach Sullivan stating, “We want to see where his game is and put him in a position to succeed… We like what he potentially brings to our lineup.”

The Rangers recently recalled both Brennan Osman and Gabe Perreault from their AHL team, sending Brett Berard and Jaroslav Schmeral down.
