Newcastle will be keen to avoid a repeat of the Alexander Isaac story going forward, but 2026 could see another case. Tino Libramento, who has attracted strong interest from Man City, could be the next player to leave St James’ Park.

Libramento has developed into one of the Premier League’s best full-backs since joining Newcastle from Southampton, and his ability to play on either flank has caught the attention of manager Josep Guardiola, giving him a good chance of signing him in 2026.

According to Football Insider, Keith Wyness has reported that Newcastle could make a move for Libramento, with his representatives potentially looking to capitalize on Man City’s interest in securing a big-money new contract at St James’ Park.

“If Libramento wants to go, it’s going to be difficult for him and if they’re still in contract negotiations, as I’m saying, they risk getting into the Isak situation again, which is really damaging and really hurt Newcastle.

“So if we get the right price in January, which I think it will be, he could be on the move, but I think if that happens I think Newcastle need to open their wallets and open their checkbooks and sign a new contract.”

“Certainly his agent is going to use him as leverage all the way until the deal with Man City is signed, so I expect it to be a lavish deal for him to stay and that’s how they’re going to force it.”

What should Newcastle do about Tino Livramento?

There is no doubt that Newcastle should aim to renew Libramento’s contract given his importance to Eddie Howe’s side. At the end of the day, it might be worth locking him in with a big salary as long as the deal lasts five or six years.
