Manchester United could reportedly sign Antoine Semenyo to play in a slightly different position as left wing-back Patrick Dorgue struggles.

The Red Devils brought Dorg in from Lecce in January last year, but it’s fair to say the Denmark international had a slow start at Old Trafford.

According to The Sun, Semenyo could be brought in as a key reinforcement on the left flank, with United officials feeling Dorg has been “ruined” by Ruben Amorim.

Semenyo has shone in Bournemouth’s attack this season, but if it’s true that Man United are eyeing Semenyo to replace Dorg, the 25-year-old will play as a wing-back rather than a wide forward in a front three.

Manchester United compete with Manchester City to sign Antoine Semenyo

According to Fabrizio Romano in the following X article, United and City began talks to sign Semenyo for £65 million in January this year.

Read below for details as both Manchester clubs battle it out for the in-form Ghanaian international…

Romano said: “Antoine Semenyo is set to leave in January with a release clause of £65 million, valid until around day 10. Both Manchester United and Manchester City have been calling, pushing and negotiating directly this week. “The decision about his future is up to the player.”

With seven goals and three assists in 15 league games so far this season, it’s clear that Semenyo is one of the most in-form attacking players in the country at the moment, which definitely means he’ll be a bit of a waste as a wing-back and will require more trackbacks.

Dorg looked like a great talent at Lecce but is still young enough that he could certainly turn his career around at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old has been left out of the starting lineup recently and could benefit from some rest after being brought in in a deep role by Amorim.

But it is also worrying that The Sun, citing sources, said the player already feels “ruined” by his early experience at United.
