This morning I came across an interesting Manchester United transfer article, but something didn’t make sense to me, so I decided to look into it a little more closely.
We know the Red Devils are serious about Antoine Semenyo, with the likes of Fabrizio Romano confirming what we first covered here regarding the Bournemouth and Ghanaian winger.

However, the new details I saw seemed to very strongly suggest a different priority for Ruben Amorim in a key position on the team.
That position would be left-back or wing-back in Amorim’s system, with The Sun suggesting Semenyo could be signed as a surprise option in that position due to major concerns over Patrick Dorg.
Now, Semenyo has been one of the most in-form players in the Premier League this season, but he is not a wing-back, so the club will no doubt aim to play him in the front three, even if Dorg is at risk.
I can confirm that United are indeed already considering a replacement for Dorg, as first reported in the Daily Briefing by sources who spoke on condition of anonymity to protect relationships.
“It’s no secret that he[Dorug]struggled at United,” my source said. “For him to come in as a starter… it’s too soon for him. They’ll definitely be targeting that position.”
Asking for specific names proves a bit difficult, but even if we can’t exactly guarantee they’re a priority, we can point to players we’ve heard rumors about before, and other clubs may also be more advanced with such deals.
One player who is currently attracting a lot of interest across Europe is Eintracht Frankfurt’s left-back Nathaniel Braun.
As I reported earlier this week, my latest information is that Arsenal are probably the club with the strongest interest in Brown right now.
However, it’s worth mentioning that United’s name has also been mentioned recently by some very reliable journalists, such as Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
We’ve heard in the past that Newcastle’s Tino Livramento is in the spotlight, but it appears that another club is showing the most interest, this time Manchester City.
So, I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen here, but for what it’s worth, here’s my analysis of the situation.
United will likely continue to monitor the likes of Brown and Livramento, but it is not an immediate priority as they wait to see how Dorg develops.
With that now unlikely to happen, speculation is mounting about the Denmark international’s situation and we will soon need to know a little more about who the target will be to replace him.
I expect central midfielders like Elliott Anderson and Carlos Baleva to still be the priority, but this is clearly the start of something.
