One of the dependable stars of Misfits faced a tough losing streak in 2025.
On the very night Andrew Tate made his boxing debut against Chase DeMore, another controversial figure was also set to compete.
The event Misfits Mania: The Fight Before Christmas was initially announced to include Dillon Danis’ comeback to MMA.
However, following a disturbance Danis caused in the crowd at UFC 322 last month, his fight was canceled, and his opponent was assigned a new match.
Anthony Taylor, who had been on a four-fight winning streak while holding the Misfits light heavyweight title, suffered a knockout loss to Darren Till earlier in the year.
After Dillon Danis quickly defeated Warren Spencer in his Misfits debut, a fight with Taylor seemed logical due to their shared history.
Though Taylor must wait for another chance at Danis, he was given a substitute opponent on December 20th to stay on the card.
This replacement was India’s Neeraj Goyat, a professional boxer with a 19-4-2 record signed to Most Valuable Promotions.
In their six-round, tactical fight in Dubai, both fighters enjoyed brief moments of success and exchanged provocations throughout, especially from Taylor, who needed to win a round to claim victory.
Despite Taylor’s persistence, all three judges scored the fight in favor of Goyat (59-55, 58-56, 60-54).
The tension between Taylor and Goyat continued post-fight, as a backstage video showed a heated argument that escalated to Taylor throwing a bottle after Goyat’s defiant refusal of a handshake.
Fan Take: This news highlights the drama and unpredictability that make Misfits events compelling for fight fans. The intense rivalries and sudden changes in matchups could signal a new era of excitement and controversy in combat sports, keeping audiences hooked.
