Bayern Munich officials have shared an important update on Liverpool’s interest in signing Michael Olise in 2026, amid competition from a series of high-profile teams.
Curtis Jones admits Salah has ‘apologized’
The past few months have been a whirlwind for Liverpool. They crashed, burst into flames, and slowly restarted their engines under Arne Slott. They will be hoping the worst is over with a much-needed tactical adjustment and the return of Mohamed Salah ahead of the trip to AFCON.
The Egyptian claimed the club had thrown him under the bus after slamming Liverpool for six in an interview after the game against Leeds United, with Slott subsequently leaving him out of the Reds’ win over Inter Milan. Since then, Salah and Slott have shaken hands and moved on, much to the relief of everyone involved.
Curtis Jones also confirmed that Salah had apologized for his verbal abuse in the dressing room as Liverpool look to move on from a chaotic situation.
“Mo is his own man and can speak for himself. He apologized to us and was like, ‘If I influenced anyone or offended you in any way, I apologize.’ That’s the man he is.”
“I can only say this from someone who knows Mo. I know how he treated us and how he acted about it. He was positive, too. He was the exact same Mo, a big smile on his face, and everyone was the exact same towards him. I think that’s part of just wanting to be a winner. I don’t think he’ll be the last.”
However, the story is not completely over. Questions still remain over Salah’s future, but the answers will likely be revealed next month or in the summer transfer window. That would likely require a departure in the summer, when Liverpool could turn their attention to Michael Oliseh.
Bayern officials confirm Liverpool’s interest in Olise
In terms of profile, Oliseh is the closest Liverpool will have to Salah next summer. The former Crystal Palace star is more of a modern-day Reds legend than a natural winger and loves to cut inside with his left foot. However, signing a French player is unlikely to be routine.
According to Bayern Munich official Christian Falk, Liverpool are not likely to sign Olise at this time and the German giants plan to offer the star player better terms to stay at the club. The Reds are interested, along with Real Madrid, Man City and Chelsea, and his new deal will add an extra year to his current deal, allowing him to play in the Bundesliga until 2030.

The relationship between Liverpool and Bayern could also be an issue. Bayern manager Uli Hoeneß did not hesitate to talk about his side’s struggles this season, just months after the Reds and Florian Wirths snatched the former Bayer Leverkusen star’s contract.
He told reporters earlier this month: “They’ve spent £500 million and they’ve had a disastrous season. In my opinion, it’s because they only have superstars. I always say: Liverpool will soon have to play with five balls, because their stars won’t give up a single ball.”
So if Liverpool attempt to sign Oliseh next year, negotiations could become frustratingly tense.
