Lakers star Luka Doncic sustained a contusion on his left foot during Saturday night’s game against the Clippers and will not return to play, the Lakers confirmed. Doncic was on the court for 19 minutes in the first half but did not come back at the start of the third quarter at the Intuit Dome.

In the first half alone, he put up 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 2 assists. Despite these stats, he struggled with his shooting, hitting only 4 of 13 field goal attempts and 1 of 6 from beyond the arc.

Doncic entered the game as the NBA’s top scorer, averaging 35.2 points per game, and ranked third in assists with an average of 9.1 per game. Injuries continue to pose problems for the Lakers this season, with Rui Hachimura missing his first start due to groin pain and expected to be sidelined for 3 to 5 days, while Austin Reeves (left calf) and Deandre Ayton (left elbow) are also currently out.

This story was originally reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Fan Take: Luka Doncic’s injury is a significant blow for Lakers fans and the league, as his scoring prowess and playmaking are crucial to the team’s success. Keeping a star like Doncic healthy is vital for maintaining competitive balance in the NBA and for thrilling basketball enthusiasts worldwide.
