Paul Gagne, a former forward for the New Jersey Devils, passed away on December 17th after battling cancer. Selected 19th overall in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft, Gagne played two seasons with the Colorado Rockies before the franchise moved to New Jersey. He then spent four seasons with the Devils from 1982-83 through 1985-86. Over his NHL career, Gagne scored 110 goals and contributed 101 assists, totaling 211 points in 390 games.

The Devils organization expressed condolences upon hearing of Gagne’s passing, highlighting his six seasons with the team and his role on the “Kid Line” during the team’s early years in New Jersey. The NHL Alumni Association also offered their sympathies, noting Gagne’s time with multiple teams, including the Colorado Rockies, New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, and New York Islanders.

Gagne’s legacy with the Devils remains strong, and his contributions will be fondly remembered by fans and the hockey community alike.

Fan Take: Paul Gagne’s passing is a somber moment for hockey fans, especially those who witnessed the early days of the New Jersey Devils. Remembering players like Gagne not only honors their impact on the game but also reminds us of the rich history and evolving legacy of the sport.
