Early in the third quarter on Monday, Steve Kerr and Draymond Green got into a heated argument on the bench, resulting in Green being ejected and sent directly to the locker room. Though he came back to the bench later, Green did not rejoin the game.

The incident began around 8:47 in the third quarter when Green committed a turnover, which led to a foul on Golden State’s Quinten Post. The Magic exploited the opportunity, scoring on Desmond Bane’s free throws and Anthony Black’s jumper, completing a three-point play. Frustrated, Kerr called a timeout.

“Clearly, we found some momentum,” Kerr said post-game, according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole. “But I thought Draymond lost his focus for a bit, so I called a timeout. He ran out of time and chose to head to the locker room to cool off.”

Coach Carr declined to disclose further details, labeling the incident as private. Both Green and Stephen Curry had similar accounts after the game.

“Tempers flared, and I felt it was best to leave,” Green explained. “I didn’t see the situation improving, so I chose to step away.”

Green believed this argument would pass, as previous disagreements with Kerr had.

“We’ve been through this for quite some time,” Green said. “When you’ve been together so long, there’s a certain comfort level. We move on.”

Despite the tension, the Warriors dominated the Magic 54-26 after Green’s departure. This followed a game in Phoenix where the Warriors erased a 10-point deficit without Green on the floor, ultimately winning.

This dispute was overshadowed by the Warriors’ performance, which no longer resembles a 15-15 team but signals a real threat in the West. Stephen Curry led with 26 points, and Jimmy Butler contributed 21, helping Golden State secure a win against a strong Magic team.
