  • Marc-Andre ter Stegen would be a great addition
  • Villa needs addition in January

Aston Villa are interested in signing Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen during the January transfer window.

The 33-year-old Germany international has struggled to get regular minutes at the Spanish club and needs to move on. According to a report from Radio Marca, Aston Villa have already started making contact with the German international with a view to signing him. There are rumors that Emiliano Martinez will leave the club, and it will be interesting to see if they will sign a German player to replace the Argentina international.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen would be a great addition

Ter Stegen has proven himself in La Liga over the years and is an important player for his country. He has won some big trophies during his career and his winning experience could be invaluable to Aston Villa. It remains to be seen whether Villa will respond to their interest with a formal offer and sign a contract. Ter Stegen won six league titles with Barcelona.

The German is desperate to play regularly and a move to the Premier League could be ideal for him if the league is going to provide him with the opportunities he needs. Sitting on the bench of a big club at this stage of his career would not be appealing to him.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, have been doing very well this season and are currently third in the league. They will be aiming to qualify for the Champions League, but the team needs more quality. Adding an experienced player like Ter Stegen could be a wise decision. Although he is unlikely to cost a lot of money, his experience and leadership qualities could be of great use to Aston Villa in the second half of the season. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

Barcelona are unlikely to stand in the way of the German goalkeeper if he wants to move on. João Garcia is currently the club’s first choice goalkeeper, and Barcelona are considering selling peripheral players in January to use the money to improve the squad. A move for the German to Aston Villa would be ideal for them.
