Tottenham are reportedly eyeing a sensational move to sign Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka in the January transfer window.
Spurs were one of the clubs pushing to sign Antoine Semenyo, but Frank was forced to switch his focus to other targets after the forward rejected a move to north London in favor of joining Manchester City.
Frank is desperate to turn things around at Spurs after a difficult start to his managerial career at the north London club.
Despite a shaky start, Tottenham’s board are said to be ready to back him, with a significant transfer budget set aside for the winter transfer window.
Multiple names are associated with the transfer. Manchester City’s Sabinho has been strongly linked with a move to the London club, while another Manchester City star, Omar Marmouche, has also been linked with a move to Spurs.
And now Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Leon Goretzka’s agent is in talks with Tottenham over a January move
Leon Goretzka’s agent has already been in contact with Tottenham about a possible surprise move during the winter period, according to respected Turkish journalist Yagüz Sabungkıoğlu.
Discussing Fenerbahce’s interest in the central midfielder, Sabuncuoglu revealed that Goretzka fits the profile that several clubs are targeting, and confirmed that Tottenham are involved in early negotiations.
Regarding Fenerbahce’s interest in the midfielder, he said: “Domenico Tedesco doesn’t want an obscure number eight. He’s looking for a strong, powerful, dominant and high-profile player who can hand over the starting shirt.”
“The candidates are clear, but there is no definitive situation as to which names will be mentioned. In terms of playing style, we are looking for a player who fits the mold of Goretzka.”
“Goretzka’s agent is in talks with Tottenham if Bayern want to release him.”
According to reports, any move will depend heavily on whether Bayern Munich allow him to leave, but Spurs are said to be monitoring the situation closely.
Leon Goretzka would be a great deal for the Spurs
Goretzka has produced outstanding performances since joining Bayern Munich, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most complete midfielders.
The German international played around 290 games for Bayern, scoring 46 goals and providing 48 assists, playing a key role in one of the most dominant eras in the club’s history.
During his time in Munich, Goretzka helped Bayern to six Bundesliga titles, three German Super Cups, two German Cups, the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.
His versatility is undoubtedly his most attractive feature. Goretzka was comfortable in multiple midfield roles and also played in a defensive role when needed.

Goretzka was previously linked with a move to Manchester United, but given his experience, athleticism and winning mentality, it’s no wonder elite clubs continue to circle the club.
When he arrives at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January, Frank will inject leadership, physicality and a trophy-winning pedigree into midfield, qualities that could be crucial if Spurs are to stage a strong second-half comeback.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will be successful in signing their most decorated player, but this link alone highlights the scale of ambition behind Spurs’ January transfer plans.
