Damian Lillard Reports Positive Progress in Achilles Recovery, Eager to Make Triumphant Return to Portland Next Season

Damian Lillard is sidelined for the entire season as he recovers from a torn Achilles tendon. Despite this setback, the seven-time All-NBA guard has remained actively involved, mentoring the young Portland Trail Blazers squad and showing signs of progress. Recently, Lillard appeared on an episode of The Road Trippin’ Show with Allie Clifton, where he also shared updates on his rehab journey (Salute to Real GM).

He explained, “The recovery is going well. This type of injury demands patience and time. The initial weeks and even months can be tough due to limited mobility. However, by being patient and doing what’s necessary for improvement, you eventually start to see light at the end of the tunnel.”

Having just turned 35, Lillard opted to take the season off rather than rush back. He’s satisfied with that choice, proud of the Trail Blazers’ development, and optimistic about what lies ahead. He said, “I’m in a better place now than when I made this decision. Moving forward, everything is coming back, and seeing the team’s growth makes me confident that if we handle things properly, next season could be special.”

Portland has some exciting talent with Deni Avdija playing like an All-Star, along with promising players like Shaydon Sharpe, Donovan Clingan, and Scoot Henderson, who is yet to play this season due to injury. The futures of Jrue Holiday and Jerami Grant may involve trade talks next summer. The Trail Blazers seem to be building something meaningful, and Lillard is determined to be part of it.

Fan Take: This update is crucial for basketball fans because Damian Lillard’s recovery and leadership are pivotal for the Trail Blazers’ resurgence. His comeback story and the team’s young talent development could significantly shift the dynamics of the NBA next season, making Portland a team to watch.
