The Ohio State Buckeyes remain undefeated as they enter December, but the Miami Hurricanes could potentially tarnish their record and spoil their championship defense. Ohio State, ranked No. 2 with a 12-1 record, returns to action after a three-week break to face No. 10 Miami, which holds an 11-2 record, in the 2025 College Football Playoff quarterfinals at AT&T Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Buckeyes secured last year’s national title by beating Notre Dame and started this season with 12 consecutive wins before falling to Indiana 13-10 in the Big Ten Championship on December 6.

Despite their loss to Indiana, Ohio State had a first-round bye and hasn’t played since then. Miami pulled off a 10-3 upset against No. 7 Texas A&M in the first round on December 20, with quarterback Carson Beck throwing a late touchdown to tie the game. Ohio State is making its third straight Cotton Bowl appearance, having defeated Texas 28-14 in last year’s semifinals, while Miami is making its first playoff appearance but has lost its last six bowl games, including a close 42-41 defeat to Iowa State in the 2024 Poptarts Bowl.

Wednesday’s NBA slate includes five games, notably the New York Knicks (23-9) visiting the San Antonio Spurs (23-9) at Frostbank Center at 7 p.m. ET. The Knicks are on a three-game winning streak, whereas the Spurs have struggled in their current homestand. In the NHL, six games are set, featuring a clash between the Buffalo Sabers (20-14-4) and Dallas Stars (25-7-7) at 8 p.m. ET. The Sabers have been on a nine-game winning streak, their longest since 2018, while the Stars have recently found themselves trailing following overtime and shootout losses.

College basketball will also have six games, including a Big East matchup between St. John’s (8-4) and Georgetown (9-4) at 8 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Both teams have had over a week off, with St. John’s last winning 85-59 over Harvard and Georgetown recently losing 97-67 to Coppin State.

Current betting odds favor Ohio State by 9.5 points over Miami, the Spurs by 2.5 over the Knicks, the Stars are favored on the money line against the Sabers, and St. John’s holds a 9.5-point edge over Georgetown.

Key viewing details and expert picks include Ohio State vs. Miami at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN and streaming on Fubo (free trial), with experts suggesting Miami’s defense might keep the game close. The Knicks-Spurs game is at 7 p.m. ET on NBA TV and Fubo, predicted for a Spurs win while limiting Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns. The Sabers vs. Stars hockey showdown is at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+ and Fubo, with a close game expected. For college basketball, St. John’s vs. Georgetown tips off at 8 p.m. ET on FS1 and Fubo, where a tight contest is anticipated.

Fan Take: This sports roundup highlights intense playoff action across football, basketball, and hockey, showcasing top talents under pressure. For basketball fans, the Knicks-Spurs game offers a thrilling backcourt battle that could signal shifts in team dynamics and playoff positioning, underscoring the excitement and unpredictability of the sport.
