Manchester United have reportedly completed their scouting mission in the race to sign the award-winning Championship star.
Amorim confirms plans to move to Manchester United remain unchanged
Despite being frustrated by the 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers, manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed to reporters that there are no changes to Man United’s transfer plans. The manager says the Red Devils have a “process” to stick to even if it becomes clear they need reinforcements.
He told reporters: “The transfer window remains unchanged. There are no conversations to change teams at this time.
“There is a process, there is an idea to continue. We are close to qualifying for the Champions League, but we are also as close as eight teams behind us, so let’s focus on the next game. That’s it. Our focus is to win the next game.”
However, recent reports seem different. Headlines from early January suggested that INEOS are looking to make a move to add to their midfield, with their sights set on the likes of Ruben Neves and Conor Gallagher.
Both players will improve Amorim’s midfield, but it remains to be seen whether Man United will jump on a short-term option this month or settle for a big summer spend. If they choose the latter path, Adam Wharton and Elliott Anderson will be two names to keep an eye on.
The same can be said about their front line. After spending big in the summer to revive Amorim’s attack, all eyes will now be on future stars, with Watford’s Osman Maamma potentially joining.
Man UTD completes reconnaissance mission to sign Osma Mamama
According to Team Talk, Man United have completed their scouting mission to sign Maamma and are currently competing with Liverpool, Newcastle United and Sunderland to sign the winger.
Maama, who was named Africa’s Young Player of the Year in November, showed glimpses of his quality on several occasions at Watford, scoring three goals in 12 appearances for the Hornets.
New Rashford: Manchester United hold contract talks for £61m ‘explosive’ star
The attacking star could add new dynamism to Manchester United’s final third
It is clear that he is still far from reaching the peak of his powers, which is why Man United would be wise to sign him early. The team’s scouts were reportedly on site for Thursday’s game against Birmingham City, where he played 70 minutes in a 3-0 win. Now they need to prepare for future moves.
It looks like they have a good chance of going one over against their Premier League rivals. Interest from Liverpool and Newcastle should certainly show how talented Maamma is, even if he is a player of the future.
