  • Manuel Ugarte is set to leave Manchester United
  • Will Manchester United make changes to their midfield?

Manchester United and Galatasaray are reportedly in positive talks regarding a potential transfer for Manuel Ugarte.

The Uruguayan midfielder has struggled to impress since joining Manchester United from Paris Saint-Germain, but it looks like he could be set to leave Old Trafford soon.

At one time it looked like a promising talent and an exciting signing, but it is now clear that Ugarte is not in manager Ruben Amorim’s plans after starting just five Premier League games so far this season.

According to Sozuk, United are currently in positive talks with Galatasaray over an initial loan deal with an option or obligation to buy.

This does not seem to be a complete deal yet, but reports from Turkish media outlets suggest that things are moving in the right direction, so some compromise should be reached soon.

This follows reports earlier this week that Galatasaray are targeting Ugarte and feel they are in a strong position for the 24-year-old.

There were also reports that former Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, who also plays on the Uruguayan national team, played a role in persuading Ugarte to join the club.

It therefore appears to be a matter of when rather than if, and it is no surprise that MUFC are looking to move on from Ugarte, who lacked an impact during his time in Manchester.

Will Manchester United make changes to their midfield?

Another player to leave United for Turkey could be Koby Mainu, according to Sabah, quoted and translated by Sport Witness, with Besiktas believed to have contacted them to inquire about a possible move for the England international.

According to my report in the Daily Briefing, these reports come as United are also considering big-name targets to join their midfield, with Brighton’s Carlos Baleva being one of the priorities, as well as exciting Premier League talents such as Elliott Anderson and Adam Wharton.
