Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Chelsea’s search for a new manager as they move forward with negotiations to sign Liam Rosenior.
The Blues parted ways with Enzo Maresca earlier this week and Rosenior quickly appeared to be the front-runner to replace him at Stamford Bridge.
The Daily Mail has reported on Chelsea’s links with Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, with one or two other names inevitably thrown into the mix, but Romano’s latest updates suggest his relationship with Rosseniol is developing.

“Chelsea are in talks to bring in a new head coach as soon as possible. Liam Rosenior remains the frontrunner and negotiations continue,” the Italian journalist wrote.
CFC will no doubt want this completed quickly. That’s because under-21 head coach Callum McFarlane is the only caretaker in the dugout going into the next game, a tough test against Manchester City, which isn’t ideal.
Rosenior is also not particularly experienced, but he did at least make an impression during his time in Ligue 1 with fellow BlueCo-owned club Strasbourg.
What will happen to Chelsea this season?
If Rosenija takes over as Chelsea manager, it could still be a great season if the west London giants can improve on their recent poor performance.
Chelsea have won just one of their last seven Premier League games, but still have enough to scream for a place in the top four.
On top of that, the west London giants are still in the Champions League while also looking forward to a Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal.
Even if this is a big step up in Rosenior’s coaching career to date, Chelsea have a solid foundation for him to build on.
