On Friday night, Russell Westbrook made history with a driving layup in the midst of the fourth quarter. He surpassed the legendary Oscar Robertson to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer among point guards, reaching a total of 26,711 points. A future Hall of Famer, Westbrook now holds the 15th spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Kings coach Doug Christie praised Westbrook after the game, saying, “I wasn’t aware he broke another record tonight. He keeps setting new records. Russ is a natural phenomenon. His competitive nature and relentless effort—especially in his 18th season—are truly impressive. I’ve always admired him, and it’s an honor to coach him.”

In the game, Westbrook scored 17 points, while his teammate Keegan Murray added 23 for Sacramento. However, they were outmatched by Devin Booker’s 33 points, which led the Suns to a commanding 129-102 victory.

Fan Take: This milestone highlights Westbrook’s incredible longevity and consistency, proving why he is one of the all-time greats at his position. For basketball fans, it’s a reminder of the sport’s evolving history and the remarkable individual achievements that continue to inspire future generations.
