In Strasbourg, Liam Rosenior is set to succeed Enzo Maresca at Chelsea. Following Maresca's abrupt exit on New Year's Day, an announcement regarding Rosenior's appointment could be made as early as Monday.

Rosenior reportedly flew to London on Sunday afternoon and is expected to be interviewed on Monday. He has been the main candidate for the position since Maresca's departure last Thursday, amid uncertainty regarding his future during Strasbourg's 1-1 draw against Nice on a overcast Saturday. He acknowledged that he had discussed Chelsea's situation with club executives prior to that match, admitting he couldn't ensure his continued presence at the club in France.

"There are no guarantees in life," Rosenior stated. "Nobody knows what tomorrow holds. I’m focused on my work. There’s been a lot of speculation. While I can't promise how long I will be here, I truly enjoy my time here and will do my best as long as I remain." He expressed a deep appreciation for the club but acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Strasbourg is connected to Blueco, a consortium that acquired Chelsea as part of a takeover from Roman Abramovich in 2022 due to UK government sanctions linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The close ties between the clubs made Rosenior's potential hiring a logical decision for Chelsea, although he mentioned feeling a lack of control over his future.

"I’m at ease," he affirmed. "There’s a lot of noise and speculation, but if we let that consume us as coaches, it can drive us mad."

Chelsea’s upcoming matches include Premier League fixtures against Fulham, an FA Cup third-round match on Wednesday, and a match against Charlton Athletic on Saturday—all potential debut games for Rosenior as manager.

The Blues are currently fifth in the Premier League after 20 matches, just three points behind a Champions League qualification spot. Rosenior will be taking charge of a team that sits 13th overall in the Champions League, with two league games remaining, as well as aiming for a spot in the EFL Cup semi-finals in the near future.

Fan Take: This news is significant as it marks another chapter in Chelsea’s ongoing rebuilding process, potentially influencing their performance on the pitch. For fans, Rosenior’s approach could reshape the team’s tactics and morale during a pivotal season, enhancing hopes for success in both domestic and European competitions.
