Williams Powered by ‘Really Strong’ Surge for Best F1 Season in a Decade

Alex Albon has acknowledged that the Williams F1 team’s lack of ego has been a significant strength during their impressive 2025 season. Williams secured fifth place in the constructors’ championship last year, scoring 137 points—surpassing the 100-point milestone for the first time since 2016.

In 2024, the team scored only 17 points, down from 28 the previous year. However, Williams started 2025 strongly, with Albon finishing fifth at the Australian Grand Prix and teammate Carlos Sainz achieving podium finishes in Azerbaijan and Qatar.

While the car’s performance improved significantly, Albon credits the positive team environment fostered by team principal James Bolles as a key factor in their progress. He told the official F1 website, “There’s a real openness within the team and a genuine willingness to learn and grow,” adding, “The team doesn’t have an ego, which I believe is a powerful asset.”

Albon described the team’s energy as positive and motivating, something that’s been crucial in pushing them forward. Despite a strong start with a top-five finish in Australia, Albon didn’t score points in the last eight races of the season. Reflecting on 2025, he said, “Reaching P5 wasn’t instant; it took four years to build, and we’re now showing signs of becoming a leading team. We have many years ahead, and while closing the gap between 10th and 5th is easier than between 5th and 1st, I’m proud of the team and ready for what’s next.”

Fan Take: Williams’ rise signals a refreshing shake-up in Formula 1, highlighting how teamwork and humility can fuel success. For racing fans, this could mean more exciting competition and unpredictability in the seasons ahead.
