Jake Paul Stunned by Anthony Joshua’s Knockout, Faces Indefinite Boxing Suspension

Jake Paul’s boxing journey hit a major setback after he experienced his first knockout defeat. The former YouTuber turned boxer endured a severe injury last month when Anthony Joshua stopped him within six rounds, resulting in both of Paul’s jaws being broken. Since the fight, Jake Paul has been removed from the WBA’s contentious top 15 cruiserweight rankings. Now 28, he faces an indefinite suspension from competing until his injuries heal and he receives medical clearance.

On Sunday, the Florida State Athletic Commission announced several medical suspensions following a December 19 event in Miami. Jake Paul is among those suspended indefinitely, meaning he cannot return to the ring until fully recovered. Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley also received a 30-day suspension after being knocked out by Anderson Silva. Other fighters from the event were given suspensions ranging from 30 to 60 days, with some also suspended indefinitely.

Despite this difficult moment, Paul is already contemplating his next fight. He hinted on Logan Paul’s podcast that he might face former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, teasing, “I said I’d do better than Francis and Francis doesn’t have a chin… Maybe he’ll accept it now.”

Fan Take: This news is crucial for fight fans as it underscores the physical risks even crossover stars face and the importance of fighter safety regulations. Jake Paul’s injury and suspension could shift how crossover boxing bouts are viewed and managed in the sport going forward.
