Two Minnesota golf courses damaged by vandals on snowmobiles

Vandals in Minot, Minnesota, caused thousands of dollars in damage to parts of two golf courses on snowmobiles.

Five greens between Souris Valley Golf Course and Jack Hoeven Wee Links were targeted, and the offenders were videotaped, although their faces were not clearly visible on the surveillance footage.

The incident occurred on the Sunday after Christmas.

“Golf course staff were out inspecting the course. They noticed the damage, took pictures and reported it to the Minot Police Department,” Minot Park Operations Director Jarrod Olson told television station KFYR.

Olson estimates it will cost $5,000 to $6,000 to repair each green, but added that golf course staff won’t know the full extent of the damage until the spring when the snow melts.

As for the vandals who haven’t been caught yet, “in their minds they’re probably thinking, ‘Oh, this is an empty lot. They’re not doing any damage.'” Well, unfortunately, that’s the case. And no motor vehicles, snowmobiles, ATVs or UTVs are allowed on our property,” Olson told the TV station.
