  • Luis Guilherme posts emotional farewell message to West Ham
  • Supports owner Nuno Espirito Santo who wants to avoid relegation

West Ham winger Luis Guilherme has officially ended his spell in East London, completing a permanent move to Portuguese giants Sporting CP.

The 22-year-old Brazilian, who arrived at the London Stadium with high expectations, will leave the Premier League after a period without first-team appearances.

The move marks a significant change for West Ham as they look to restructure their squad during the January period, with the club allowing his departure to allow the talented youngster to reignite his career in Lisbon.

Luis Guilherme posts emotional farewell message to West Ham

After confirming his move to Sporting, Luis Guilherme shared a heartfelt message to West Ham fans on Instagram.

The winger admitted that his tenure in England did not go to plan, but expressed his gratitude for the experience of playing in the Premier League.

Guilherme posed on Instagram:

I joined West Ham at a young age and, while focusing on my job, I fulfilled one of my biggest dreams: to play in the Premier League, one of the best leagues in Europe and the world. Opportunities didn’t always come the way I expected, but I never lacked dedication, commitment and focus as I continued to grow as a player and a person.

I wish I could have helped you more. I wish you had done more, Hammers. But in soccer, things don’t always go as planned.

It’s tough to leave seeing the club going through a difficult moment, but I’m rooting for better days ahead.

I would like to thank you for this time together and for all the love I have received. Now, I take everything I have lived here with me and move on to a new challenge in my career with the confidence that good things will come.

Thank you for everything.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly under intense pressure amid the club’s precarious position in the league, but West Ham’s board has chosen to stand by the manager for now rather than replace him mid-season.

The bosses are understood to be backing Nuno through a drastic investment in January as they aim to lift the club out of the relegation zone.

West Ham have already moved quickly on the market, securing two key additions.

Brazilian defender Pablo Felipe arrived for £22m to address defensive weaknesses, while Tati Castellanos arrived from Lazio to add attacking depth.

The Argentine striker’s transfer fee is thought to be around £25m and Nuno hopes his goals will seal the Hammers’ stay in the Premier League for the 2026/27 season.
