The Mets are bolstering their infield roster by signing Christian Arroyo to a minor league deal that comes with an invitation to major league spring training, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. Arroyo, 30, last appeared in the majors in 2023.
Over his seven-year MLB career, which included time with the Giants, Rays, Indians, and Red Sox, Arroyo posted a batting line of .252/.299/.394 across 295 games. He brings versatility, having played every infield position as well as right field.
In 2025, Arroyo spent the season in the Phillies’ minor league system, hitting .301/.367/.457 in 50 games and 207 at-bats, mainly with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Fan Take: This signing is a smart move for the Mets, adding depth and experienced versatility to their infield options. For fans, Arroyo’s presence could provide valuable roster flexibility and potential breakout moments that keep the season exciting.
