Tottenham are preparing an improved offer for Santos star Souza.
The north London club are still keen to sign Souza, although their initial offer worth 10 million euros (about 800 million yen) was turned down.
Santos is demanding a transfer fee of around 20 million euros. Latest news from AS journalist Eduardo BurgosTottenham are willing to pay the asking price.
Tottenham are preparing to make a second offer for Souza
According to Eduardo, the player is “positive about signing for Tottenham”. In addition to the option of playing in the Premier League and living in London, he also likes the sporting project that the Premier League offers him.
Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs also echoed Eduardo’s information, stating that the 19-year-old is keen on a move this January, with several clubs showing interest, including Italian giants AC Milan.
Newcastle have also been linked with the player, but Jacobs believes those reports are far from the truth.
Jacobs told X: “Spurs intend to make an improved offer to Santos for Souza after their £8 million bid was rejected. The 19-year-old Brazilian is keen to move in January and a number of European clubs have made inquiries, including Milan. Despite reports, Newcastle United are not on the list.”
Tottenham need to strengthen their left-back position
Destiny Oudogie is out with a hamstring injury and while Jed Spence has done a decent job playing on the left wing during his absence, Thomas Frank feels the need to strengthen that position.
The young Brazilian full-back has quickly emerged as one of South America’s most exciting defensive prospects and has emerged as the club’s top target.
He is from the prestigious Santos academy, which has produced Pele and Neymar.
He established himself in the first team during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, making over 30 first team appearances and helping the club through the Serie B campaign and subsequent return to the top flight.
He is known for his quick feet, explosive pace, and tendency to open up spaces by driving centrally as well as by the touchline.
He has strong crossing ability, is used to holding the ball and functions almost as a playmaker from wide areas.
