  • Signing Antoine Semenyo signals Manchester City’s intentions
  • Guardiola’s factors contributed to City’s signing of Semenho

Antoine Semenyo’s long-awaited move to Manchester City is set to be completed following an exchange of documents with Bournemouth, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The deal, worth £65m, is one of the biggest moves of the current transfer window and signals City’s intention to further strengthen an already strong squad.

The Ghanaian international will undergo a medical on Thursday before signing a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Romano provided an update on X.

“Antoine Semenyo, I’m going to Manchester City! Documents have been exchanged with Bournemouth and sealed.

“For a transfer fee of £65 million, Semenyo will sign a long-term contract following a medical on Thursday.

Semenho wanted to work under Josep Guardiola and chose #MCFC from among the top four clubs in the PL. ”

Signing Antoine Semenyo signals Manchester City’s intentions

If made official, Semenyo will be one of the most expensive sales in Bournemouth’s history and will be testament to his rapid rise and impressive development in the Premier League over the past 18 months.

City’s interest in Semenho has been long-standing, with recruiters identifying him as a forward who can add a different dimension to Josep Guardiola’s attacking options.

With Guardiola and his team chasing Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal for the Premier League title, they needed someone who could help them close the gap on the Gunners, who are currently favorites to win the league.

The 25-year-old’s decision was not taken lightly. Semenyo had interest from four other Premier League clubs, all of whom were willing to offer him a central role in their attacking plans.

But in the end, the chance to work under Guardiola proved decisive.

Guardiola’s reputation for developing attacking players and developing tactical understanding played a big role in convincing Semenyo that City was the right next step in his career.

From Bournemouth’s perspective, this deal represents great business.

The club were determined not to let Semenyo go midway through the season unless his valuation was met, and City’s willingness to pay £65m meant negotiations moved quickly.

His departure has left a noticeable hole in Bournemouth’s attack, but the funds generated are expected to be reinvested as the club looks to strengthen multiple areas of the squad.
