Manchester United are looking for a replacement for Ruben Amorim and recent developments could mean they are set to announce a replacement by the end of this week.
Manchester United searching for interim manager until summer
Despite the Red Devils and Amorim having a strong chance of qualifying for Europe, they parted ways after last weekend’s draw between the Red Devils and Leeds United following a breakdown in communication between the former Sporting manager and Jason Wilcox.
His formation was not universally loved, but there was also some friction within the club due to the approach of the 40-year-old, who either came from Carrington or was brought in from the academy before reaching first-team level.
Koby Mainu’s lack of involvement in this campaign is an obvious point to point out now that Amorim has left, but the club are also reportedly angry at the treatment of Chido Obi and Harry Amath.
On the contrary, Aiden Haven has been a success story since joining the Red Devils from Arsenal. It is part of Old Trafford’s ethos to utilize academy talent that has the potential to develop into future stars, even if there is a process of trial and error.
Darren Fletcher’s interim appointment will provide some immediate stability, and his involvement with the Under-18s could suggest that several promising players could make their senior debuts under his stewardship if the circumstances are right.
Either way, there needs to be clarity at Old Trafford and supporters will be hoping that happens soon as Manchester United continue their charge towards a successful season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could sign contract with Manchester United on Friday
Norwegian media outlet VG reported on Wednesday morning that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signed a contract to take over as caretaker manager until the end of the season and could return to Manchester United as early as Friday.
The 52-year-old is due to attend Auge Hareide’s funeral on Thursday and could soon put pen to paper, becoming a temporary authority figure in the dugout following a tumultuous period under Amorim.

Solskjaer enjoyed a successful spell in charge between 2018 and 2021, helping Manchester United produce their best football in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, and led the Red Devils to the Europa League final in 2021, where they lost to Villarreal on penalties.
But his reign came to an abrupt end a few months later, and it will come as a surprise to many that the events of the past few days have brought feelings back.
He commands player buy-in and has previously been described as a “fantastic manager” by Harry Maguire, and has won praise from legend Ferguson for his trust in youth players – an essential part of the role.
The club are hoping to move in the right direction and Solskjaer is increasingly likely to be the man to steady the ship following Amorim’s departure following the Red Devils’ stalemate at Elland Road.
