Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi.
The 46-year-old has done a great job with the French club and has attracted interest from Manchester United. According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham could use him as a replacement for Thomas Frank if his results do not improve soon.
They have had such disappointing results in recent months that they will be desperate to turn things around.
Regarding Frank, a source told TEAMtalk, “There’s no rush to fire him right now.” “The board appreciates the stability he brings and the obvious problems in the team, but the results speak for themselves. Unless the situation improves, change will be inevitable.”
Meanwhile, reports claim the 46-year-old manager is delighted with the interest from the north London club, but would prefer to join Manchester United instead. Apparently, a move to Old Trafford would be a ‘dream opportunity’ for him.
“He is delighted with the interest from Tottenham, but United will probably be the priority,” a source told TEAMtalk.
This development will be a blow to Tottenham, but it remains to be seen whether they will be able to persuade the player to join. Meanwhile, Manchester United are also looking for a quality manager. They recently sacked Ruben Amorim and are in need of a quality replacement.
De Zerbi has excelled in the Premier League during his time at Brighton and could certainly be an attractive target for Manchester United. All eyes are on whether he will be officially selected as the next manager.
The fact that the 46-year-old is considering joining them will no doubt be encouraging for them. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
