Liverpool’s lackluster attacking football over the past month has confirmed that Mohamed Salah is not, in fact, the problem.

Undoubtedly, the Egyptian has fallen significantly from his typical standards throughout the first half of the 2025/26 season, but Arne Slott’s side have serious creative problems that they are still fighting to overcome, and the head coach has been forced to address recent claims that the Premier League champions are becoming boring.

Liverpool’s painstaking style approach doesn’t resonate with them. However, circumstances have seen Anfield slip away from that dominance this season, with their recent draw with Arsenal extending their unbeaten run to 10 games, showing progress from such a dismal autumn performance.

Salah will return from AFCON soon and will hopefully be active throughout the working months of the season. However, the 33-year-old is likely to end his Reds career this year, with FSG ready to sign a successor.

Adding a defender to the squad is likely to be a priority this month as Conor Bradley’s knee injury sustained at the Emirates does not appear to be improving.

However, width and danger across the side is still needed as the Merseyside side have failed to match the Premier League’s creative biggest hitters this season.

The respective departures of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz have had a negative impact on the system in the slot, and sporting director Richard Hughes would know by now that outside help is needed to smooth out the wrinkles.

Well, Spanish sources have indeed hinted that he is involved in the affair, recently revealing that an offer of €50m (about £44m) has been made for the Kuwaiti-born winger, who recently broke into Barcelona’s first team.

The 20-year-old Baldigi has shown himself to be a very talented player, but given Lamine Yamal’s tendency to hold the fort in his position at the Camp Nou, the Reds may find themselves able to invade.

Why Rooney Buljiji can replace Salah

Barcelona signed Bulge from Copenhagen for just 2 million euros (approximately 170 million yen) last summer, after impressing him with the Denmark international during his formative years.

At the age of 17, he played in the Champions League against Manchester United and made his name known around the world.

Are they considering someone to replace Salah? In fact, Bulge has been described by journalist Alberto Braya Sensat as “one of the great jewels of the world of football”, and he showed this in La Blaugrana’s recent victory over Athletic Bilbao, scoring one goal and providing two assists during the 5-0 win that saw them reach the final of the Supercopa de España.

According to SofaScore, he created four chances, won five duels and completed three dribbles, a perfect performance that speaks to his worth on the biggest stage.

There’s something Salah-like about him, producing some great plays that complement his natural hunger in front of goal. Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has actually commented that Barjij is “similar” to Yamal, with the superstar’s qualities flowing through his veins.

Still very young. Here’s hoping Salah actually stays on for another term so the fleet-footed talent can learn from his skills before earning a big late salary in the Saudi Professional League.

Hailed as a “tremendous talent” by scout Jacek Kulig, Bulge has shone at Barcelona and is beginning to project himself as a future superstar who combines artistry with keen application of his skill set.

In other words, he’s showing himself to be the real deal and a real player, not just a showman. Given that he is a unique winger, there is a good chance that FSG will be onto something as they move forward with signing Salah’s successor at Liverpool.

Manager Arne Slott may have to consider dropping the Liverpool star, who had no problems against Arsenal.
