INEOS reportedly submitted an offer to sign Manchester United’s impressive attacking star this month, worth more than £85 million.
Manchester United offer over £85m for star
Man United still have the January transfer window remaining amid the chaos of the manager search. This was a talking point to the disappointment of coach Ruben Amorim, who was looking for reinforcements, but now it’s up to INEOS to continue without the sacked manager and build the team around who they appoint next.
Of course, what makes things difficult is that we may not know who the next permanent manager will be until the summer. Recent reports suggest that the current plan is to appoint an interim manager until the end of the season, possibly in the form of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, before moving on to a more permanent option.
Manchester United’s next manager: 6 candidates most likely to replace Ruben Amorim
The Portuguese manager was sacked after the 1-1 draw with Leeds.
As for who that permanent manager could be, that name was floated earlier this week amid reports that Luis Enrique will leave Paris Saint-Germain when his current contract expires in 2027.
It will certainly be a long wait for those at Old Trafford, but it could still be possible to convince the Spaniard to leave the French team a year early and take on the challenge of rebuilding Man United.
On the other hand, if he is not PSG’s manager, he could be Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner. The Austrian is set to leave the south London club at the end of the season when his contract expires, meaning United will sign him on a free contract at short notice.
Like many other players on the Red Devils’ shortlist, Glasner will benefit from the arrival of attacking star Yann Diomande at Old Trafford. According to Caught Offside, Man United have made an offer for Diomande, but RB Leipzig are reluctant to sell this month, valuing their star man at around €100m (approximately £87m).
Manchester United should start a new era with Diomande
Under Amorim, the addition of star players meant little. In his 3-4-2-1 system, wide players were often central in one of the two number 10 roles, or wing-backs with added defensive responsibilities. Someone like Diomand would have been doomed from the beginning.
But now that he has been shown the door, Man United have the chance to bring in a manager who can take Diomande to the next level.
The 19-year-old is already becoming a player to watch in the Bundesliga, with a number of clubs, including United, tracking his development. And if they switch to a back-four system with wingers, he should be one of their top priorities.

It’s no wonder Leipzig are keen to keep Diomande, who has been involved in 11 goals in 16 games so far this season and has been highly rated by manager Marcel Schäfer.
The managing director said: “He is a left winger with great speed, can dribble, is very athletic and can finish. He also never lets go of the ball and works for the team. Despite all the excitement, we should give Jan enough time to get used to life in Leipzig and the Bundesliga.”
