Manchester United are close to making Marcus Rashford a permanent move to Barcelona, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
Barça appear to have made it clear and direct to Rashford and his agent in the past 24 hours that they want to keep him beyond this season.
Romano provided this major update on his YouTube channel regarding the future of Rashford, who has been in great form since moving to Camp Nou in the summer.
Latest information on Fabrizio Romano’s transfer of Marcus Rashford to Barcelona
“What I can tell you in the last 24 hours is that the direct message from Barcelona, from the club, is that in communication with Marcus Rashford’s camp, his agent and the player’s family have already told Rashford that they want to stay with him beyond this season,” Romano said.
“Although Rashford is on loan, again the €30 million buy option clause is not mandatory, but Barcelona have already informed Rashford that they are very happy with him in terms of his performance, versatility and professionalism.”
“Rashford was fantastic in the first half of the season at Barcelona, always super serious, super professional, never causing problems, a very good presence in the dressing room, doing very well in terms of numbers, but also great in terms of attitude.
“United know that Barcelona are seriously interested in keeping Marcus Rashford. Although nothing has been officially decided yet, it is certain that Barcelona have already communicated internally with Marcus Rashford about their intention to keep him in the future.”
Will United regret letting go of Marcus Rashford?
United fans may have mixed feelings about Rashford’s situation as he was once a star player at Old Trafford but now appears to be back to his best form.
The 28-year-old has scored six goals and provided eight assists for Barcelona so far this season, despite not always being an automatic starter, and the move to a new club and new league seems to have worked out well for him.
Rashford spent his entire career at United before being loaned out to Aston Villa last season, and perhaps the change of scenery is helping to reinvigorate him.
In that case, returning to MUFC probably wouldn’t be a good solution for anyone, but at the same time, there are bound to be some fans concerned about letting such a top talent go when they don’t have other in-form attackers.
