Gabriel Martinelli transfer: Is it time for the Arsenal forward to move on?
Martinelli has been given plenty of chances at Arsenal right now, but it looks like he may not develop into the world-class player he was perhaps expected to be.
A few years ago it looked like Martinelli was really on the verge of becoming the perfect forward, but he has been far from hot and perhaps Arsenal need to think about an upgrade.
For now, Leandro Trossard has mainly started in front of Martinelli, but Arsenal also have Ebelesi Eze as a potential option to play on the left of their front three.
Gabriel Martinelli is interested in a move from Saudi Arabia
Arsenal expert Charles Watts speaks catch off side In the summer, Martinelli had interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.
“There was talk of him leaving in the summer, but I didn’t really think that was going to happen. Arsenal would have needed a big offer to consider a sale, but no offer came through,” Watts said.
“There was some interest from Saudi Arabia, but that’s just the way it is and I don’t think it was a move that Martinelli would be interested in at this point in his career.
“But I think Arsenal’s stance on a potential sale could change next summer, especially if Martinelli has another frustrating season.
“At that point he has two years left on his contract and Arsenal will need to make some sales in the near future, so the Brazilian could be at the front of the line.”
