Message from Phil Mickelson to Anthony Kim after successful promotion

Phil Mickelson praised Anthony Kim’s remarkable strides back into professional golf after securing a spot in the 2026 LIV Golf League.

Mickelson, who has been at the heart of LIV Golf since its inception, praised Kim’s determination on social media, calling his story “truly inspirational.”

“AK has his life back and his golf game back. He will be competing in LIV Golf for 2026. Congratulations! I’m really impressed.”

Kim reflected on her journey so far and spoke about her motivation for returning.

“I’m not here to prove everyone wrong. I’m here to prove I’m right,” he said after finishing third to regain full-time LIV golf status.

“I’ve been working hard, and this little girl here is one of the reasons why. Obviously, my wife is very supportive. She’s supported me all year long and the last two years since I came back. I’m so grateful to be back on stage.”

A comeback story years in the making.

Kim’s return to the sport has become one of golf’s most compelling stories. Once touted as a future star, he won three PGA Tour titles and played for Team USA in the 2008 Ryder Cup before injuries and personal issues took him out of the game for more than a decade.

He returned to professional golf in 2024 as a wild card entrant at LIV Golf. Despite a difficult start and relegation after the 2025 season, Kim did not give up.

He participated in the promotional tournament, a tough four-round contest for three league spots, and shot rounds of 66 and 69 over the weekend to finish in third place at 5 under.

His performance not only secured him a spot in the 2026 LIV Golf League, but also demonstrated his determination to rebuild his career.

Kim will join Canada’s Richard T. Lee and Sweden’s Bjorn Hellgren in the 2026 LIV Golf League, which begins its season next month in Riyadh.
