Dustin Johnson contract extension: Star player sticks to multi-year deal with LIV Golf

Dustin Johnson has signed a multi-year extension with LIV Golf. The league’s first member, the 4Aces captain, continues to spearhead a team that was once the beauty of LIV golf balls during the league’s early stages, but is now looking to recapture that magic as the circuit enters its fifth season.

“This team is built for big moments, and 2026 is an opportunity for us to take another step forward,” Johnson said. “Thomas Detrie is a great addition. He’s confident, competitive and exactly where we want to be. We have the talent, chemistry and mindset to be successful all season long.”

In addition to Johnson and Detrie, Patrick Reed and Thomas Peters fill out the 4Ace roster. Detrie entered the PGA Tour in 2025, winning the WM Phoenix Open and finishing inside the top 50 at the FedEx Cup, qualifying him for the marquee event on the 2026 PGA Tour calendar.

The smooth-swinging right-hander instead chose to accept a contract with LIV Golf and in doing so teamed up with fellow Belgian Peters.

“There is a great atmosphere around 4Aces that you can immediately feel,” Detrie said. “You can see that they’re playing with confidence and there’s definitely a sense of swagger coming from all of the players…I feel like I deserve to be on the biggest stage. It’s exactly the type of environment I want to be a part of.”

The 2025 season marked the first time in Johnson’s LIV golf career that he did not hoist a trophy. The two-time major champion’s game has dropped significantly over the past two seasons, as he hasn’t finished in the top 10 at a major since the 2023 U.S. Open.

Johnson played in all four major championships in 2025 thanks to previous exemptions and a special invitation that allowed him to play in the PGA Championship. Heading into 2026, the Masters and the US Open are the only tournaments he’s eligible for, given his previous major championships.

Johnson’s recommitment to LIV Golf comes after Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith confirmed They will be playing in the league in 2026 Despite opening the door to rejoining the PGA Tour, Brooks Koepka decides to change allegiance.
