Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka has fueled speculation over his future by insisting he wants to play for Manchester United in the future.

The 28-year-old midfielder was approached by a Manchester United fan during international duty and revealed he wanted to play for the Red Devils.

“Yes, of course I would like to play for Manchester United,” he said (h/t SportWitness).

Manchester United could certainly use some physicality and defensive strength in the middle of the park, but they have not been linked with Onyeka in recent months. It will be interesting to see if his comments motivate the Premier League site to move him in the near future.

Meanwhile, his comments will also worry Brentford. It is not unusual for players to be interested in a move to a big club, but his public arrival is sure to fuel transfer speculation.

The midfielder has shown his quality in the Premier League for Brentford despite not starting regularly and the opportunity to play for a club like Manchester United would be very exciting for him. It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils are willing to sign him in the future. They could use more quality and depth in midfield. It may be a wise decision to sign a player who has shown his ability in the Premier League.

Manchester United signed Brian Mbeumo from Brentford at the start of the season. It remains to be seen whether they can make the most of the friendly terms between the two clubs and sign Onyeka in the future.

Given his lack of playing time at Brentford, it’s no wonder he would be open to a move. It will be interesting to see if any club offers the Nigerian player an exit.
