Manchester City are closing in on a £20m move for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The England international “accepted” an offer from Man City, and even though he was supposed to become a free agent in the summer, he also rejected Arsenal and Liverpool who were also potential suitors.
However, City are keen to make an early move for Guehi and it appears the 25-year-old has settled on a move to the Etihad Stadium, after initially appearing to be leaning towards letting his contract expire.

“Breaking news: Marc Gehi is on his way to Manchester City! Crystal Palace have now accepted a formal offer – it is understood the fee will be around £20m. Guehi approved the move to #MCFC. Exclusive article, currently under review,” Romano posted on X.
Marc Gehi withdraws free transfer plan and agrees £20m move to Manchester City
Romano was recently cited as one of the sources linking Gehi to Arsenal, reporting that Liverpool have shown continued interest since the summer.
Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Mikel Arteta truly believes he is a top player, but Arsenal also have a lot of players in that position. That’s the point.”
“And there is general interest from Liverpool. They reached an agreement last summer… Liverpool remain absolutely interested in Marc Gehi and it will definitely be a match to watch.”
He previously said of Guehi: “What I can say is that the player’s real intention was always to move on a free transfer in the summer.
“It’s the player’s responsibility and his plan was always to go on a free transfer in the summer.”
Maru Gehi to solve Man City defensive crisis
City really needed Gehi this winter after recent injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias left them lacking depth in central defense.
The former Chelsea youngster would not have been guaranteed such a regular starting spot at Arsenal due to the presence of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães.
However, this is a huge blow for Liverpool, who came very close to signing Guehi in the summer but still need more signings to strengthen their options at the back.
Virgil van Dijk is not getting any younger, while Ibrahima Konate is nearing free agency, so a replacement may be needed soon.
