Arsenal are preparing to make a bold summer move for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, with manager Mikel Arteta making the England international his priority target ahead of the 2026-27 season.

According to sources close to X, the Gunners have been pursuing Gordon for several months and are prepared to test Newcastle’s resolve with a big offer this summer.

Arsenal’s admiration for Gordon dates back to his breakthrough at Everton. It was there that his incredible speed, relentless work rate and ability to play across the front lines first caught the attention of scouts.

Since joining Newcastle in January 2023, the winger has further improved his game, becoming one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attacking threats.

Arsenal want to strengthen their wide range of options and remain competitive in attack, and Gordon fits the stylistic and tactical profile Arteta is looking for.

Newcastle’s financial dilemma could open the door

Newcastle consider Gordon one of their most important players, but recent reports suggest the club may need to make at least one big-ticket sale in the summer to remain compliant with Premier League financial regulations.

Gordon’s stats this season are as follows:

Arsenal have wingers as one of their most marketable assets and are seizing attacking opportunities.

It remains to be seen how much money Newcastle will demand for the winger, but it is expected to be huge.

The Gunners signed Victor Gokeres, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze last summer.

Arteta is now looking to add another attacker who can play on the left.

That position is currently occupied by Leandro Trossard, with Gabriel Martinelli playing as backup.

However, Arteta is now planning for the future and working to ensure the key issues facing his team are addressed.

Gordon’s presence would give Arsenal another talented winger who can decide big games.
