Chelsea remain persistent in their bid to sign the Real Madrid star, but it could take a huge fee to get him over the line this summer.
Blues keep an eye on new attacker ahead of match against Paphos
The Blues prepare to face Paphos in the Champions League this evening and will no doubt be expected to take all three points from the Cypriot side, who have won just one of their opening six games in Europe’s elite competition.
Ahead of the encounter, Liam Rosenior revealed that they have a chance to win this season’s Champions League if they put in place the necessary fundamentals, saying: “I told the players that if we focus on each match, don’t think too far ahead and perform as well as we can, we will never limit the group’s ambitions, no matter which group we are working with.
“But if we don’t work now, those games and trophies won’t exist. We have to focus on this game and hopefully three more points will get us closer to that goal.”
However, if the west Londoners are to become European champions for a third time, they may need to bring in additional quality during the January transfer window, given they currently sit sixth in the Premier League table.
According to a report in Caught Offside, Chelsea have begun contract negotiations with Real Madrid’s Arda Güler and are persistent in reaching out to inquire about the Turkish player’s situation, in a bid to establish themselves as favorites in the race to sign him.
However, with Arsenal also seeking to establish themselves as frontrunners, the deal could be expensive, with Madrid likely to hold out for between €90m and €100m (£79m to £87m), and a deal may not be possible until the summer.
Interestingly, although the 20-year-old is currently reluctant to leave, there are speculations that the Spanish club could allow him to leave this summer.

A reliable journalist says he will be leaving soon.
Guler could be the perfect signing for Chelsea
Bruco has a reputation for only signing young players, an approach that has been criticized by Gary Neville, but importantly, despite his age, the Madrid star has already begun to prove himself at the highest level.
The Turkish international, who has made 26 appearances this season, has performed well in both La Liga and the Champions League, most recently registering an assist in his side’s 6-1 win over AS Monaco.

Thanks to his impressive performances in the league, the youngster was even praised by scout Jacek Kulig just a few days ago.
Chelsea are looking to sign exciting young players and Guler could be the perfect addition to the squad this month, although rival interest from Premier League leaders Arsenal could be an issue.
