Manchester United sense an opportunity to pull off an ambitious deal and are reportedly making full preparations for a move for Chelsea star Cole Palmer.
The England international’s future has been the subject of some speculation recently, and it appears he is still linked with Man United.
Fichajes’ latest update is that the Red Devils could make a huge bid for Palmer, with the price likely to be at least £120m.
This comes after The Sun reported that Palmer was being tempted by the prospect of returning to Manchester, although this was downplayed by Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior.
What Liam Rosennier said about Cole Palmer transfer speculation
Rosenior spoke to Palmer at yesterday’s press conference and said the 23-year-old was happy at Stamford Bridge.
“I talked to Cole and he seems very happy to be here,” Rosenior said.
“Certainly Palmer is a big part of our long-term plans. He feels in good shape and took part in training today.”
Chelsea fans will hope this is the end of it, but it stands to reason that United could continue to pursue Palmer if there is any indication that he wants to leave London and return to the north of England.
Cole Palmer’s move to Manchester United will be a game changer
Palmer was a world-class performer during his time at Chelsea and is arguably the best player of the Todd Boley and Behada Egbali era.
The former Manchester City youngster will undoubtedly be a welcome addition to struggling United, who are in need of a new superstar.
Bruno Fernandes isn’t getting any younger and Palmer could be the perfect long-term successor as he has a similar ability to score and assist from midfield.
But Chelsea are certainly not looking to sell to their rivals, and Palmer will have to question whether it is the right decision after United’s struggles in recent years have ensured that their project is behind Chelsea’s.
