Nothing fazed Justin Rose this week at Torrey Pines.

The 45-year-old Brit opened the Farmers Insurance Open with a 10-under 62 on the Nordschleife and never looked back. Rose led by four points after Friday’s second round and expanded his lead to six points on Saturday. Rose flagged the iron all week at Torrey Pines. He earned a 3.147 and 3.697 batting average on approach in the second and third rounds, respectively, and played this week ahead of his competitors for second place.

“Nobody can beat him this week,” Joel Dahmen said of Rose after the third round.

Those words rang true Sunday, when Rose became the first player since Tommy Bolt in 1955 to win a pure wire-to-wire victory at Torrey Pines. Johnny Miller competed wire-to-wire in 1982, but finished tied for first after the first round.

Rose was unchallenged on Sunday, waltzing past Siu Kim, Ryo Hisatsune and Pierceson Coody by seven strokes for his 13th PGA Tour victory. He finished at 23 under, breaking the 72-hole scoring record held by Tiger Woods.
