Asked by reporters about Frank, Arteta said: “It’s always very sad news when you have a colleague who doesn’t continue working.

“Thomas is a great coach and an exceptional man, and he’s proven that in the league.

“So we know where we are… We know that our responsibility is not just performance….

“Well, I wish him all the best in whatever he decides to do next.”

Tottenham’s next match is against Arsenal

Spurs are out of the FA Cup, so they have this weekend off and their next game will actually be against Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Arteta’s side won 4-1 against THFC earlier this season when Frank was in charge, and will undoubtedly be favorites to win the title again.

But Tottenham will be hoping to benefit from the famous ‘new manager bounce’ which often brings some surprises.

Michael Carrick certainly enjoyed himself when he first took over as Manchester United’s caretaker manager, winning his first three games, including against tough opponents such as Manchester City and Arsenal.

It remains to be seen who Tottenham bring in to replace Frank, but they could end up making a memorable debut in the Spurs dugout ahead of the North London derby.
