PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Jordan Spieth had a better Sunday than most, and Thursday wasn’t too shabby either.
Spieth qualified early for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am after missing out on Friday’s WM Phoenix Open. On Sunday, he teed off first at Pebble Beach with his brother Stephen, then headed to Cypress Point, No. 1 on Golfweek’s Best Classic Courses list, for one of the best doubleheaders you can experience in golf.

“I had a fun day,” Spieth said in Thursday’s post-round press conference. “I played it on a loop, but not all of it.”
Word leaked that Spieth wasn’t just having fun at Cypress – he made a hole-in-one on the par-3 15th.thOne of the most special holes in golf.
Jordan Spieth hits a bunker shot on the 11th hole during the first round of the 12026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at Spyglass Hill Golf Course.
“Yes, Ace,” he finally admitted, grinning widely. “If you were to ask me where I would like to hit it, it would probably be one of the top five holes in the world.”
Spieth said he made so many aces that he was sure to lose count — 12 or 13 by his count — and the last one was on the 199-yard, par-3 16th hole at TPC San Antonio during the opening round of the 2024 Valero Texas Open.

On a warm, sunny Thursday with little wind, he shot a 6-under 66 and no bogeys at Spyglass Hills Golf Club. I called this the proof of a short game. It was a nice bounce back from the disappointment of a sloppy second round at TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course. This course has often been a springboard for his early start to the season.
“I thought I’d forget about that and use this as a pseudo-Phoenix to dial it in,” he says. “Last Friday, I had a really bad day and woke up on the flip side of a great day.”
The highlight of Spieth’s opening round was another hole out for eagle. Only this was the 18th par 4.th He hit a gap wedge from 116 yards for deuce.

“I took it off a little bit to control the spin and it landed a little bit right and had some draw spin,” he said. “That was a real bonus.”
Spieth always cycles through this week on his calendar. He has been an AT&T ambassador since 2014, wears the logo on his golf bag, received his first tour exemption as a professional here in 2013, and won the tournament at age 23 in 2017, making him the youngest champion. Overall, he has six top-10 finishes in this tournament, the second-most of any player competing this week behind Jason Day with nine, and tied for second-most in any tournament of his tour career.
Spieth enters this week with 151 birdies at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am since 2017, the most of any player in that span. He got off to a strong start and said, “Six under on the Spyglass might be the best I’ve ever shot, so I’m very happy.”
He has now played three consecutive rounds at Pebble and is averaging +0.41 strokes gained on Approach to the Green at Pebble Beach Golf Links, which ties the record for fifth-highest average SG: Approach to the Green of his career.
