Chelsea are willing to continue supporting Pedro Neto and reportedly do not want to sell him despite rumors of a move to Atletico Madrid.
The Portugal international has had a bit of a mixed run since arriving at Stamford Bridge, which has led to some uncertainty over his future ahead of the summer.
Yet, according to TEAMtalk, Chelsea officials seem to be playing down any talk of a potential sale, despite being linked with a £70m move to Atletico.
The report suggests Blues officials are happy with Neto and can probably ignore any claims of him leaving for the time being.
What impact did Pedro Neto have on Chelsea?
Neto looked like an exciting talent during his time at former club Wolves, but we imagine Chelsea supporters are divided.
The 25-year-old has seven goals and four assists in 37 appearances in all competitions so far this season, which isn’t terrible but isn’t particularly great either.
The numbers probably don’t tell the whole story, but CFC could probably be forgiven for expecting a little more from Neto.
Even if Neto is able to tinker with the final product, he is a threat with speed and skill, and his presence alone will often help free up space for other players.
Options in Chelsea’s attack
It is also worth noting that it is not always easy to shine at Chelsea, as there are always many changes in the team.
Not only do the west Londoners have to rotate a lot to keep everyone happy, but the nature of their transfer strategy means players come and go.
Neto seems to be one of Chelsea’s more secure players at the moment, but a change of personnel could make it difficult for him and other players to develop the necessary fluency.
