Tottenham agree to contract with England U16 captain George Jobling
John Wenham told X: “We understand that the club has completed the signing of highly-regarded England U16 captain and right-back, former Chelsea player George Jobling.”
Jobling joins Spurs with an excellent reputation, having most recently captained England Under-16s.
His leadership qualities and technical abilities have enabled him to perform outstandingly on the international stage.
The move is another important step in Tottenham’s aggressive recruitment strategy, which has prioritized securing up-and-coming talent before they reach the end of their professional terms.
Who is George Jobling: Tottenham’s new star player
George Jobling is a versatile defender who primarily plays as a right-back, but has also shown tactical flexibility to move into a central defensive role when required.
Born in May 2010, the 15-year-old has been praised for his modern take on the full-back role, combining defensive solidity, recovery pace and the overlapping runs required for high-pressing systems.
The deal is seen as a key addition to Spurs’ academy. Spurs’ academy has recently had a surplus of centre-backs, but they lack a clear-cut specialist at full-back.
Jobring is expected to integrate into Tottenham’s U18 set-up as he continues to develop in preparation for the professional game.
