        • Tudor could bench Kolo Muani and Solanke for ‘Defoe-esque’ Spurs sensation

Igor Tudor has 12 games left to save Tottenham Hotspur’s season.

Of course, supporters will be hoping to see the club reach the knockout stages of the Champions League and aim to reach their first final since 2019, when they suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Liverpool in Madrid.

However, remaining in the Premier League is certain. It’s madness that the Spurs project has turned into this, and with the Londoners in the relegation zone just five points behind West Ham United, Tudor needs to get this plan straightened out quickly.

Tudor is seen as an adaptable tactician, and we think Spurs may be able to implement his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation and make a number of notable changes amid the injury rash.

1

GK – William Vicar

Coach Antonin Kinski will be hoping for some opportunities now that Franck is gone, but Guglielmo Vicario is unlikely to take his place.

The Italian has been out of form this season, making mistakes and struggling to maintain consistency. Still, Tudor should maintain its lead.

2

CB – Radu Dragusin

Dragushin entered the salon for perhaps his last chance at Tottenham. The 24-year-old missed most of 2025 with an ACL injury, and although he is now back, he hasn’t performed to the desired standard.

Interest from Italy surfaced during the winter transfer window, so he will need to make rapid progress in the coming months.

3

CB – Cristian Romero

Cristian Romero will miss three more Premier League games until the suspension he received against Manchester United is completed, but there is no doubt that the captain will define Tudor’s tenure for the entire working month.

However, word on the street is that the 27-year-old wants to leave and, with Spanish suitors interested, could be entering the final stages of his time at Tottenham.

4

CB – Mickey van de Ven

Mickey van de Ven will be in the spotlight after the campaign ends. The Dutchman is arguably Spurs’ most popular player in the absence of Son Heung-min, and rightly so.

He is powerful, majestic, and frighteningly fast. Van de Ven is the real deal and could prove the difference between Tudor being able to restore their last line to its maximum level.

5

RM – Archie Gray

The first phone call was really controversial. Pedro Polo will be hoping to slot in on the right wing in Spurs’ revamped system, but the Spaniard has had a dismal run of form this season, unreliable and unconvincing.

But Archie Gray has stepped up where his senior team-mates’ performances have plummeted, with Harry Redknapp recently describing him as a “future Tottenham captain” who can “deliver results wherever he plays”.

6

CM – Conor Gallagher

In January, Tottenham signed Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid for £35m. The hard-working Englishman, a long-term target for N17, proved to be a much-needed signing as Rodrygo Bentancur collapsed in the infirmary like many other players.

Gallagher may not be the most versatile playmaker, but he works hard and offers a versatile skill set to attack Tudor’s midfield.

7

CM – Joan Parinha

There’s not much to say about João Parinha. He has limited ball handling, but he’s monstrous when it comes to getting the ball back. A tough tackling machine, Gallagher will need to maintain his level of form if he is to maintain a stable role in the Lilywhites’ centre.

8

LM – Jed Spence

Polo may be sidelined, but Destiny Udogi is out injured again, making that decision.

With that in mind, Jed Spence will likely be set to reprise his role as a left-back, having proved an invaluable utility option for the north Londoner over the past few seasons.

9

AM – Xavi Simmons

Simmons started to improve in the final weeks of Frank’s tenure as manager, so the board will be hoping for further performances from Tudor over the remainder of the campaign as he steadies the ship.

Hailed by statistician Statman Dave as a playmaker who can create “magic” on the ball, Tudor will need him to get stronger going forward, especially with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski still sidelined with long-term injuries.

Randall Kolo Muani was reunited with Tudor, who scored five goals in just 11 games for Juventus last season. But now is Mathys Tel’s time to shine.

With a deadly finish that was hailed as “Defoe-esque” by presenter Ben Bowman, the dynamic young forward was itching to move on from Frank, who didn’t sit well with the Dane.
