Everton are currently in the race to sign an “extraordinary” £35m forward, who is being targeted by a number of Premier League clubs.
Toffees look to new forward amid attacking woes
The Toffees have been in poor form in recent weeks, winning just one of their last five Premier League games, losing their last two on spin and most recently falling short in a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester United.
David Moyes’ side struggled to create chances against the Red Devils, finishing with an xG of just 0.63 and scoring just 29 goals in the Premier League all season, fewer than West Ham United in 18th place.
Tierno Barry and Beto have struggled to find the back of the net consistently, with the strikers only scoring eight league goals between them. This means the Merseysiders are on the hunt for a new centre-forward, with Union Saint Giroise star Promise David among their targets.
However, a striker is not the only position Moyes is considering adding to this summer, with the signing of a new winger also on the agenda, and there have already been inquiries about signing Real Betis star Abde Ezarzouri.
According to a report from Sport Boom, Everton made an initial approach to sign Ezarzurri during the January transfer window and have entered the race for the player this summer, but it could be a fierce competition.
Newcastle United have identified the Moroccan as one of their top targets, with West Ham and Aston Villa also mentioned as potential suitors.
Real Betis are prepared to sanction a summer departure, but the deal could be relatively expensive, with the La Liga side expected to hold out for at least €35m to €40m (£31m to £35m).
The Toffees have struggled to create chances following their defeat against Man United, and their lack of goals this season should be a cause for concern for Moyes, who would ideally want to bring in a new forward this summer.
Considering the level of performances in Spain and Europe this season, the Betis star could be exactly the player they need, regularly providing both goals and assists.
Abde Ezarzouri’s offensive stats | Appearance | commitment to goals |

king’s cup | 2 | 2 |
europe league | 8 | 3 |
Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is also an admirer of the 33-cap Moroccan international, once describing him as an “extraordinary person”. He has averaged 1.7 successful dribbles per 90 in La Liga this season, the second highest in Real Betis’ squad.
Ezarzurri is ready to test himself in the Premier League, so it would be exciting if Everton were to pursue a summer move, but with Beto and Barry struggling, bringing in a new striker will likely be a priority.
