Adam Wharton could leave Crystal Palace this summer
Wharton’s consistent performances for the Eagles have established him as one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League. The 22-year-old defensive midfielder is attracting attention from some of the country’s biggest clubs.
His contract at Selhurst Park runs until the summer of 2029, but he could move this summer. Despite his poor form this season, interest in his services remains. The Eagles are concerned about his form as they believe interest from other top clubs may have changed his focus.
Crystal Palace want to keep him beyond this season and are working on a possible extension to his contract. However, there is a gentleman’s agreement that would allow him to join the Champions League club for between £60m and £65m if a new deal cannot be agreed.
Premier League duo vie for Wharton
Liverpool and Manchester United are the main candidates to sign him. Wharton is very high on the Merseyside club’s wish list as they hope to bring in someone who can compete with Ryan Gravenbirch for a spot in the XI.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils are eyeing him as a long-term replacement for Casemiro. Manchester United could go all out to sign Wharton this summer as the Brazilian leaves the club at the end of the season.
